Merritt Gade studied metalsmithing and fibers at the University of Oregon, graduating in 1999. That same year, she moved to Austin, Texas, where she has worked in a freelance capacity producing jewelry, bridal headpieces, lampshades, wall sconces, scarves, stained glass, and upholstered furniture. She is constantly learning techniques and skills to expand her portfolio and keep herself from getting bored. Merritt's favorite work is custom, one-of-a-kind pieces made for a special purpose.
